The fly has hit again!

Yep, the Drosophila fruit fly has hit the summer red raspberries again this year. They are not fit for picking anymore. Surely hope that the people that create sprays can come up with one that won’t kill the bees. So far there is an organic spray but it kills the bees, so we don’t spray. Never have and hate to start!
Therefore, we have lost our patch to the critters again this year.
We have fall raspberries too that will start in mid-August. If pickers can come when they first start ripening, there will be picking until they move in on them.
We do have some blueberries left for picking as they have not been affected by the bugs. Best to call before coming out to see whether we are picked out or not.
We will have grapes around Labor Day week-end as well.
So sorry about losing the summer raspberries. There are many beautiful berries on the canes! Thanks to all of you that were able to get out before the bugs moved in and to those that picked before too many were overtaken. We’ll try again next year.
Don’t forget to call to get your name on the canning tomato list.
Also, don’t forget to stop in to see John at the Farmers Markets:
Tuesdays – Franklin Arts Center – Brainerd Lakes Area Growers Market
Thursdays – American Legion – Nisswa Nisswa Farmers Market
Fridays – Gander Mountain Parking Lot – Baxter Lakes Area Growers Market
All markets 9:00- 12:30
He has lots of produce on the van on market days. We have some produce available at the field as well. Hours for the field during picking season are 9:00 – 5:00.
Remember, not much to pick right now except a few blueberries. Mid August should be the next picking session after the blues are gone.
Have a great day!
